* This term we have been learning words for people in our family. We did lots of different activities: We sang a song with actions, made a mobile, made a paper chain, made finger puppets, and completed work in our books. We introduced our Family Mobile to sensei, and talked to each other in Japanese. We played Circle Games, and used the Smart Board. We speak Japanese in every lesson! We have done lots of Japanese writing, and learned that Japanese people write using a mix of hiragana and picture writing (kanji). We studied the kanji for 'mum' お母さんand 'dad' お父さん. Year 2s and 3s - and some Year 1s - can put together a connected oral text of 5-6 sentences to answer the question だれですか Dare desu ka? Who is it? Year 2s and 3s are learning the hiragana (Japanese writing) for words we use often.
